Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Entry Level Software Test Engineer to join our multi-discipline engineering team developing software for command-and-control systems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields. Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. In this position you’ll focus on automated testing, development of robust, innovative software test infrastructures and frameworks, integration testing, informal manual testing, formal software qualification testing, fielding and support, and maintenance of software products. Software products range from analysis tools/simulations, mission planning software, and components of mission-critical systems. This test position involves direct participation as an integral team member who performs key roles with respect to test planning, test strategy and design, test execution, software engineering processes, recommendations on product quality and supporting training development.

This position also involves reviewing, editing, and generating various documents used for engineering and testing purposes per industry standards.

Basic Qualifications

Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, with 0-5 years of relevant technical experience.

Must demonstrate basic competency with the following:

Software development in either C#/.NET, C++, Java, Python, or Ruby programming languages.

Linux (Redhawk 7.2, Redhat 7.5, BSP, Xlinix PetaLinux), RTOS32 and

Windows 10.

Network routers, firewalls, and switches.

Configuration control of the complete baseline including software, configurations and documentation.

Review and generate documentation pertaining to installation, operation and maintenance of software.

Have the aptitude for the technical skills required for software test, configuration management, and software quality engineering concepts.

This includes, but is not limited to:

software installation, integration, test and operation, and but tracking skills.

Have familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Good communication skills, including the ability to receive constructive feedback from more senior team members as well as support training development.

Ability to travel < 20%. You may be asked to travel occasionally for 2 weeks at a time for CONUS test and exercises.

Being self-motivated, paying attention to details, and working under deadlines are key elements of this position as well.

Must demonstrate a pattern of ethical decisions and a commitment to integrity at the individual level that conform to Dynetics’ Code of Ethics.

Other Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:

Experience developing test methods and procedures for software products

using scripting and/or compiled languages.

Experience writing user interface (UI) tests with automated UI testing


Experience writing unit and integration tests with unit test frameworks.

Experience with applicable industry standards (IEEE 12207, CMMI, DO-

178B and/or DO-278, RMF) or automated testing techniques.

The ability to work across multiple products under development by multiple small teams.

Understanding of tactical architectures for Army vehicle-based command and control systems.

Management/leadership of a test lab.

Ability to interface to and brief management and customers on system status, operation, and issues.

Manage Firmware including installation, upgrades.

Network storage arrays.

Understanding of message interfaces with external C2 systems.

Cybersecurity skills (STIGS, etc.).

Classification and declassification of hard disks.


Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
