This position will lead the execution of the design, development, integration, and test of fluid flow components and systems for mobile ground-based weapon systems, specifically the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) Launcher. The LRHW Launcher is a mobile ground-based launcher that fires surface-to-surface missiles carrying a hypersonic glide vehicle and warhead. The launcher utilizes a custom designed hydraulic power unit, fluid distribution, and control system to actuate stabilizers and erect the payload.
Candidate will be responsible for applying sound engineering and design principles in the development and refinement of new and existing complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and phase change systems including outriggers, stabilizers, payload erector systems, pneumatic actuators, and heat management systems.
Candidate will be responsible for fluid system architecture, component and system trades, bill of material development, specifications, 3D CAD modeling of fluid flow components and supporting mechanical structure, fabrication and integration drawings, close collaboration with the design team, and hands-on manufacturing/test support.
This position will require development of Technical Data Packages using CAD software (CREO), PDM/PLM systems (Agile/Windchill) and supporting software (Visio) for the production and documentation of complex systems and components.
BS or MS in Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university.
Candidate must have a minimum of 3+ years of fluid mechanics design engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: hydraulics, pneumatics, or phase-change systems.
