Position Description
Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a passionate, detailed-oriented problem-solver to serve as the Lead Model-Based Systems Engineer to support the Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonics Test Bed (MACH-TB) Flight Test Program as part of the Hypersonics and Advanced Materials Division. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The focus of the MACH-TB Program is to develop rapid cadence, affordable flight-testing capabilities to quickly advance the hypersonic glide vehicle Technology Readiness Level. As an integral member of the MACH-TB Team, the successful candidate will leverage digital engineering and systems engineering practices and tools, especially CAMEO, Modelcenter and Syndeia, to identify challenges and formulate candidate solutions within complex, highly interdependent hardware systems and programs. The Lead MBSE will develop and implement the Systems Engineering Master Plan (SEMP), manage all deliverable processes, plans, documents, and map requirements from specification to verification methods. The Lead MBSE will work closely with the Chief Engineer, Chief Systems Engineer and Flight Test Mangers to lead the Systems Engineering team in application of systems engineering standard processes and best practices to an existing workflow to efficiently:
- Derive System requirements from Task Order, Specifications and Test Plans
- Provide verification and traceability of deliverables back to System Requirements
- Identify, track, plan and execute mitigations of program risks
- Lead development and refinement of a complex digital engineering model which will be used to optimize planning and scheduling of hypersonic technology testing
- Lead development of test plans and process improvements
- Facilitate configuration management of the technical data package
- Perform quality-checks of systems engineering activities
- Develop and track Key Performance Parameters (KPPs) and Key System Attributes (KSAs), track requirement allocation, current status, and projected values of critical Technical Performance Measurements
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of overall system interdependencies and interfaces
- Work directly with Management and other functional teammates to include engineering, quality, finance, security, and planning and control
- Implement creative solutions to ensure program requirements are upheld
- Represent the program systems engineering architecture, model development status, and MBSE analysis outputs directly to the diverse team of government stakeholders
- Mitigate and resolve risks
- Perform other related job duties as required
- Travel to supplier sites as required (up to 20%)
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 8+ years or Master Degree with 5+ years applicable experience
- Experience in building systems models in CAMEO
- Experience with hardware development programs
- Experience with system level requirements
- Experience with subsystem/system integration and test
- Detailed understanding of the top-down systems engineering process for architecture development and bottoms-up verification
- Experience applying systems engineering practices in flexible and creative ways to support programs with unique developmental constraints
- Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of complex physical systems
- Ability to derive requirements for complex mechanical systems and production flows
- Experience in customer-facing environments
- Demonstrated ability to work with the customer to bring clarity to ill-defined program challenges and/or system requirements
- Experience performing Integrated Product Team (IPT) or Systems Engineering team lead role
- Ability to stay focused and succeed in a dynamic and fast paced environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information
- Candidate must be a resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama area
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret Clearance
- Must be able to travel up to 20%
Other Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess:
- A current DOD Top Secret clearance
- Experience performing risk management, test planning and/or proposal development
- Experience with prototype production efforts
Security Requirements
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Top Secret Clearance.
