Position Description
Dynetics Technical Solutions (DTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Quality Control Manager for Mechanical Products to support commercial, aerospace, and defense manufacturing/production programs at our Spire Manufacturing location. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos-Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for implementing a Quality Control system and team that promotes customer satisfaction. The position will champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to develop an effective Quality Control system for mechanical products such as machined parts, mechanical assemblies, composite assemblies, welded assemblies, painted or coated assemblies, flight hardware fabrication and assemblies, etc.
Functions
- Serves as the primary quality control authority for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
- Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
- Plan quality control staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to Quality Engineer, Technician, and Inspector staff.
- Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring Quality Control system effectiveness.
- Leads root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
- Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
- Develops quality planning methods for all product lines within the plant.
- Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
- Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the plant’s product lines.
- Reports to Quality Management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
- Participates in internal and external quality audits.
- Collaborates with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations.
- Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
- All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position manages all Quality Control employees of a mechanical manufacturing plant and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that team.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or business administration with ten (10) years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and/or management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment.
- Fifteen (15+) years of experience is acceptable in lieu of degree.
- Experience in a QMS compliant with AS9100/ISO9001.
- Candidates must be a resident of the Colorado Springs area or willing to relocate to the Colorado Springs, Colorado area.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $94,250 - $145,000 - $195,750
The Dynetics pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
Other Qualifications
- Security Clearance is preferred
- Experience in leading skilled professionals in a matrix environment
- Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software a plus
- Direct experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Quality Module implementation and management a plus
- Experience in a start-up environment a plus
- Experience implementing and maintaining QMS
