Position Description

Leidos Dynetics Group seeking a qualified individual with at least 5 years of relevant signal processing experience to serve as a Communications Signal Processing Engineer within the Systems Interoperability, Integration, and Test Department, in support of UAS test and analysis at the JSIL CERT Center on Redstone Arsenal.

The candidate selected will join a diverse team of junior to senior engineers and analysts to create unique solutions for complex problems. We have offices across the United States engaging in the defense, aerospace, cyber, space, and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT solutions. Flexible and hybrid work schedules are negotiable.

The Communications Signal Processing Engineer will research and develop advanced signal processing algorithms and perform test and analysis of advanced protected (anti-jam [AJ] / low probability of detection [LPD]) waveforms, providing performance and vulnerability assessments to our DoD customers for existing and candidate UAS ISR data link waveforms.

Our team provides technical subject matter expertise (SME) for government product offices to aid in product improvement and acquisitions. This ensures that our customers can maximize capability in a cost-effective manner as new, advanced communications capabilities are sought out.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degrees in electrical engineering or physics from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA and at least 5 years of relevant experience in signal processing; communications; and electronic warfare (EW), specifically detection of communication signals in noise.

US citizen and resident of Huntsville, Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area.

Must be willing to travel as needed to locations across the U.S., though minimal travel is required for this position.

The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong background and demonstrated skills in the following:

  • General signal processing expertise (signal modeling, filter modeling, noise modeling, Fourier transforms, etc.)
  • Communications waveform modulation theory (PSK, QAM, etc.)
  • Spread LPD waveforms (DSSS, FHSS, MCSS, hybrid methods, etc.)
  • Signal detection theory (energy detection, feature detection, etc.)
  • Cyclostationary feature analysis (cyclic autocorrelation, cepstral analysis, etc.)
  • Basic MATLAB programming (cell arrays, structs, tables, graphics, MATLAB path, data import and export, etc.)
  • Object Oriented MATLAB programming (methods, properties, and their attributes; value and handle classes; object arrays; etc.)
  • Technical research experience (IEEE journals, etc.) and implementation of findings via algorithm development
  • Data analysis
  • Strong knowledge of RF concepts (RF testing, RF propagation, RF schematics, link budgets, etc.), especially in relation to over-the-air signal detection
  • Hands-on test equipment experience (spectrum/signal analyzer, signal/function generator, oscilloscope)
  • Technical writing and report/presentation generation with great attention to detail and professionalism (to formally convey analysis results to customers)

  • Networked or multi-access data links (CDMA/TDMA, MANET, hub/spoke, mesh, etc.)
  • Common Data Links (CDL) and Digital Data Links (DDL)
  • Digital RF memory (DRFM)
  • Cognitive radio sense and avoid
  • EW threats (detectors/jammers)
  • Radio testing (lab testing and flight testing)
  • Layer 3 networking
  • Python or other programming languages
  • Scripting languages
  • Technical leadership experience
  • DoD experience

 

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
