Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Dynetics Fort Walton Beach team focuses on developing state of the art Hardware in the Loop (HITL) simulation systems used to test cutting edge guided munitions for the Air Force’s premier munitions acquisitions organization. With expertise in in the areas of radar, electronic warfare, target generation, and digital signal processing, the Fort Walton Beach team has been a recognized authority on RF HITL solutions for the last 25 years. The individual selected for this position will be joining a team of talented engineers and scientists to develop advanced system concepts from inception to prototype and production. The right candidate will be comfortable operating as a member of a small inter-disciplinary engineering team and eager to attack any technical challenge.

Software developed by the candidate will include application software, device drivers, user interfaces, instrumentation systems and real-time 6DOF simulations. This position requires the ability to work with a team to understand and perform all aspects of software design, development, and testing.

The Senior Software Engineer will join a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team contributing to products for a variety of programs. This role includes implementing software architecture for large-scale software products and designing smaller-scale solutions to meet those needs. A successful candidate will guide junior developers in best software practices and approaches, be comfortable presenting in software briefings in a variety of settings, and able to contribute to the planning of projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 5 - 15 years of experience in a highly technical software role
  • OR have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 3 - 8 years of experience in a highly technical software role
  • The candidate must demonstrate a working knowledge of object-oriented programming as well as experience in software design and debugging.
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong competency in software development in C/C++.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively collaborating within an agile team environment.
  • Be comfortable leading or greatly assisting in software architecture design in an Agile Scrum environment
  • Have experience mentoring team members in software best practices and approaches through peer reviews and other efforts
  • Have experience collaborating with other functional groups (systems engineering, test) to create a software product
  • Be a resident of the Fort Walton Beach, FL Area or willing to relocate to the Fort Walton Beach, FL Area.

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Languages and tools of interest include (C, C++) using Qt, Enterprise Architect, and SysML.
  • Broad experience in software languages, platforms, and development environments.
  • Experience with real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles
  • Ability to decompose high-level customer requirements into software architecture
  • Unit/Integration testing
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages with ability to transition to others as needed

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
