Position Description

Dynetics, a Leidos company, is seeking a Structural Analyst to join a talented engineering team that develops critical defense and aerospace systems. These products include, but are not limited to, hypersonic re-entry vehicles, launch systems, booster components, directed energy systems, satellites, and avionics.

The candidate's primary responsibility includes structural analysis of hardware, assemblies, and complex systems. The position requires an understanding and application of analytical methods, finite element models and simulations, and other analytical tools to produce models and perform analyses for a variety of aerospace related products. This includes performing hand calculations as well as detailed stress analyses utilizing standard industry software programs.

Candidate will be responsible for closely collaborating with the design and manufacturing teams to produce designs that meet stringent performance, manufacturability and schedule requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Position will require a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.3 or higher GPA.
  • Candidate must have at least a BS degree and four (4) years’ experience (or an MS degree and 2 years) performing structural analysis in the aerospace, defense, automotive or similar industries.
  • Candidate is required to have proven working knowledge with any of the commercial structural analysis tools (e.g., FEMAP, PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS, etc.).
  • Candidate must be able to write technical reports and present data to a multi-disciplined team.
  • Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Other Qualifications

Preferred candidates may possess a Master’s or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university. Preferred candidates may have experience and/or working knowledge of the following:

  • Advanced structural analysis techniques (Linear contact FEA, Non-linear FEA, Application of non-linear material properties to hand analysis, Integrated multi-physics analysis)
  • Bolted joint and weld analysis
  • Dynamics analysis (modal, response spectrum, vibration)
  • Fatigue analysis
  • Composite materials design and analysis
  • Thermo-structural analysis

Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for the team environment. Candidate should have good organizational skills and be detail-oriented.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
