Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Application Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Engineer in this role will work directly with automotive customers to develop and install Dynetics automotive test products at facilities across the United States and some international locations. Candidate will work with the customers to develop vehicle manufacturing and testing processes and help design engineering solutions; develop programs and scripts to test vehicle electrical functionality; develop software and documentation for tools to aid in deployment, setup, configuration and maintenance of products; and improving existing software and hardware solutions used in automotive manufacturing and engineering applications.

Skills used to perform this work include software programming, computer networking and networking related concepts. Internet software development or databases skills are desirable. Ideal candidate will enjoy working with customers and recommending solutions that improve the production process for the original equipment manufacturer (OEM's).

Basic Qualifications

Position requires at least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar).

Candidate will be required to demonstrate knowledge of or interest in one or more of the following:

  • Systems Integration of Industrial Automation hardware and computer equipment such as industrial computers, PLCs, proximity sensors, barcode scanners, vision systems, and serial devices.
  • General computer networking skills such as assigning IP addresses, managing network-interface-cards, networking topologies, wired/wireless networks, and troubleshooting communications.
  • Basic understanding of RF technologies and protocols used in modern systems such as 802.11-based radios, Bluetooth, NFC, keyless entry, or other short-distance communication technologies.
  • Understanding of basic software development concepts, software configuration, and algorithm development and defining requirements.
  • Comfortable working with desktop, mobile, and specialized devices running Windows operating systems or embedded operating systems.
  • Experience working in manufacturing environments with skilled trade resources
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting electrical devices, cables, and interfaces.
  • Knowledge of device client/server architecture, Oracle/MS-SQL database management, and TCP/UDP communication
  • Experience with remote connectivity technologies such as VNC, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), TeamViewer, or similar.

Candidate will utilize said skills to implement Dynetics testing and configuration hardware and software solutions into customer manufacturing environments, identify and troubleshoot issues either onsite or remotely, and otherwise support these systems from cradle-to-grave.

Technical writing and communication skills required.

Other Qualifications

Candidate must be comfortable interfacing with customers. The position requires travel to customer sites to setup equipment, train customers and support product launches. Must be able to work independently on-site as well as participate in group projects. Position requires a high-degree of problem solving skills.
