Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer, Mid-Level to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The position will lead the execution of mechanical design and engineering tasks supporting the Department of Defense, intelligence, and missile applications. Candidate will be responsible for applying sound mechanical engineering & design principles in the development of machined, structural, sheet metal, & composite component parts. Candidate will be responsible for bill of material development and component specification for mechanical assemblies. Candidate must be able to apply engineering design processes, such as design for manufacture, drawing production, configuration management, and integration and development of complex mechanical systems.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• Candidate must have a minimum of 4+ years of mechanical design engineering experience or 2+ years with MS degree
• Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
  • Mechanical design of structures
  • CAD and 3D Modeling
  • Drawing production in accordance with ASME Y14.100

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

Other Qualifications

Experience and demonstrated skill in any of the following areas is also a plus:

• Creo 4 and later
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5
• Aerospace fasteners
• Mechanical mechanisms
• Solidworks
• Missile structure design and packaging
• Cable routing
• Project management
• Knowledge of EPDM products such as Solidworks PDM and Windchill
• Experience with FEM/FEA using NASTRAN/FEMAP is a plus, but not required

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
