Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented User Experience (UX) / Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) Usability Research & Evaluation Specialist to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
This position will ensure a clear understanding of the goals and objectives for creating and conducting usability research projects by preparing tasking & scenarios, project plans, study plans, moderator guides, and other artifacts related to designing and structuring user studies. In addition to facilitating user studies, the candidate will moderate user interviews, create personas and journey maps, conduct heuristic evaluations and cognitive task analysis, perform statistical/quantitative/qualitative analysis that blend findings to provide recommendations and digestible insights, and define user requirements and user flows.
The candidate will mentor team members (by embedding in cross-functional teams) to elevate and enhance research methodologies and execution.
BA/BS degree in Usability Engineering, Human Factors, Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Industrial Engineering, or an adjacent field of study with a concentration in technology human factors. Graduate degree preferred.
Minimum three (3+)years of direct experience with Human-Centric Design / User-Centered Design (HCD, UCD) methods and user experience research methodologies such as usability testing, customer interviews, task analysis, and surveys. Familiarity with DoD weapons systems or Unmanned Aircraft systems is a plus.
This is a customer-facing role, requiring excellent communication skills, initiative, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Candidate must be willing to travel at approximately 25% of the time to remote locations across the U.S.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Deep knowledge of an array of user research methodologies and proficient with industry-standard design, prototyping, and user testing instrumentation and tools.
Proactive attitude with strong project management skills and the ability to clearly communicate research findings through written reports and oral presentations.
Ability to analyze requirements that are in the formative stages of development.
Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills.
Desire to bring creativity and drive to the usability research process.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
