Dynetics is seeking an experienced Senior Optical Designer to join a diverse team for developing new and evaluating existing EO/IR imaging and non-imaging sensor systems, prototypes, hardware-in-the-loop facilities, and other associated components and subsystems. Candidate will perform system requirement definition, optical system design, modeling, analysis, calibration, alignment, and acceptance testing of prototype systems. Candidate will evaluate existing designs for production and provide expertise at PDR and CDR meetings.
Candidate will also be required to design, develop, and evaluate the performance of optical systems for applications which employee disciplines in computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, and target acquisition and tracking. This position will include the design, fabrication and testing of prototype systems and also include efforts to reverse engineer existing optical sensor systems and develop models to represent these systems for performance evaluations.IND3
This position requires Masters in Optical Engineering or a degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school, with an emphasis in optical design with a minimum of Ten (10+) years of experience in the design, development, and fabrication of imaging and non-imaging optical systems using standard optical design tools such as Zemax and Code V.
Candidate will be required to work in a teaming and collaborative environment with other optical engineers and image processing algorithm developers for optimal solutions to difficult optical problems.
Experience with laboratory and field testing of optical systems, subsystems, and components is required.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Demonstrated skills in the following would be advantageous:
- Familiarity with MWIR/LWIR/UV/SWIR/EO-IR sensor systems and applications.
- Infrared signature generation and analysis tools.
- Development of specialized optics for HWIL facilities.
- Experience developing image processing algorithms.
- Development of sensor models for high fidelity M&S.
- C/C#/C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, and/or embedded software development.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (as well as maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.
