Position Description

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Mid Level Software Engineer to join a multi-discipline engineering team developing software decision aids for aviation systems. Dynetics’ Missile and Aviation Systems Division is seeking a software engineer to support software releases of decision aid software products focused on tactical mission planning and execution tasks. The team is developing multiple software products and utilizes cutting-edge software tools and processes in order to implement and deliver releases to multiple DoD customers.

This position involves analysis and integration of weapon performance datasets, geospatial datasets, STANAG 4586 network data, and development of rich user interfaces to present relevant operational information to air vehicle operators. Direct communication with customers, end users, and team members will be required on a frequent basis.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree. Candidate with less than 5 years of relevant technical experience must have overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  1. Candidate with a Bachelor’s degree must have 5-10 years of relevant technical experience, or 3-8 years of relevant technical experience with a Master’s degree.
  2. Candidate must demonstrate strong competency in software development in either C#/.NET, C++, or Java programming languages.
  3. Candidate must possess an aptitude for good object-oriented software design techniques.
  4. Candidate must have strong leadership abilities, organizational skills, and work ethic to coordinate team tasking.
  5. Candidate must have experience designing software product(s) to meet customer requirements.

Candidate is expected to participate and contribute to software design reviews.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Candidate is expected to mentor junior developers and provide constructive feedback.

Candidate should have a desire for a long-term technical career path in software development.

Experience with multiple programming languages and automated unit testing is preferred.

Experience with well-defined software processes is preferred.

Experience with STANAG 4586 messaging is a plus.

Scrum Master experience is a plus.

Experience with missile performance data, integration, and testing is a plus.

Experience with geospatial data, including raster, vector, and DTED formats is a plus.

Knowledge and experience with the following are a plus: Agile, Scrum, Microsoft Visual Studio, WPF, Atlassian software products, Jetbrains software products, unit and integration testing tools, and design patterns.

A passion for developing reliable, technically excellent products is preferred.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
