Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented FPGA/SoC Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. The Product Engineering Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware products. The individual selected for this position will be a design engineer with varied technical interests and demonstrated engineering skills. The individual must be a self-starter with experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems. The engineer will work closely with hardware integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.
The selected candidate will be expected to execute in a fast-paced, small team environment through all phases of the product life cycle from conceptual development and detailed design through manufacturing, qualification testing, and post-delivery support. The engineer will be responsible for developing robust hardware solutions. The engineer’s primary job functions include architecting, implementing, and testing firmware solutions targeting FPGAs.
With a product focus, the individual is also expected to actively partner with other engineers, project managers, technicians and the customer to develop solutions that adhere to a diverse set of requirements. Additionally, the engineer will support resolution of technical issues that are discovered during the manufacture and test of deliverable hardware. This will include troubleshooting board-level issues, assessing failures for root cause, and identifying corrective actions.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution
Experience in FPGA system design and test from architecture through implementation
Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
Motivated self-starter and problem solver with experience executing in multi-disciplinary teams
Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods
Additional skills to assist design teams with circuit and PCBA design and analysis, embedded processor/microcontroller or SoC designs, technical trade studies, and evaluation of technology improvements are a plus.
Experience designing and implementing DSP functions is desired.
Familiarity with modern Xilinx FPGA families and design tools (7-series FPGAs, Ultrascale+, Vivado, Xilinx IP cores).
Experience working with SoC designs such as Zynq and Zynq Ultrascale+ including architecting and interfacing with peripherals, interrupts, and related bus architectures.
Experience developing and implementing FPGA-optimized versions of DSP algorithms (e.g. modulation/demodulation, PLLs, filters, image processing).
Experience with multiple high-speed serial communication standards and interfaces (e.g. Aurora, 10Ge, PCIe, DDR4/3/2/1, JESD204B).
Working knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards.
Hands-on experience with Mentor Graphics electrical engineering development tools.
Experience with standard internal interfaces such as AXI4, AXI4-Stream, AXI4-Lite.
Experience working with embedded operating systems.
Experience with FPGA PCBA hardware design.
Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
