Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented, experienced Chief Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the U.S. engaging in the intelligence, missiles, aviation, space, and cyber fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering and scientific solutions.
The selected individual will serve as Chief Engineer for one or more fast-paced projects that are developing and demonstrating human exploration space systems from flight prototypes to production and operations. Projects may involve major subsystems, elements, or full systems and are expected to span the full product life cycle: design, analysis, manufacture, qualification, and production.
As Chief Engineer, the individual will provide technical leadership for design and analysis and for engineering review boards. Other duties will include: leading design trade studies to ensure an optimal balance of cost, schedule, and risk for the customer; ensuring the manufacturability, testability, and operability of the design; supporting manufacturing planning and assembly and integration efforts; and supporting planning and execution of tests.
The individual will serve as the primary technical representative to the customer and will work with the customer, program team, and suppliers to ensure that the design and delivered products meet all technical requirements. The individual will also interface with other program managers as well as division and company leadership. Additional duties will include support of business development for existing or related efforts.
Beyond the primary task, the individual will support various projects in the Space Systems Division. Projects will involve diverse space technologies, subsystems, and integrated systems.
The position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field.
Position requires at least 10 years of experience in aerospace, with direct aerospace hardware experience.
Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office software tools.
Candidates must have demonstrated an ability to deliver results in a team environment and independently.
Applicant must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
Candidates must have in-depth knowledge of and experience with defense, civil, and/or commercial space engineering practices and processes, including the product development cycle through qualification and production.
Candidates must also have an understanding and/or experience with the following:
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
The position requires travel and may include periods of frequent travel for critical program assembly, integration, and test activities.
Candidates with advanced degree(s) in engineering or related academic fields are preferred.
Experience with project planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project is preferred.
