Position Description

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective engineering, tactical logistics, scientific and IT solutions.

The Mechanical Designer will work with a group of design engineers and analysts to support design, development and deployment of advanced mechanical and/or electrical systems. Position will require creation and development of designs utilizing CAD packages (CREO and/or SolidWorks) for the production and documentation of system components. Candidate will be tasked with preparing detail drawings of mechanical or electrical parts, components and assemblies for engineering, manufacturing or repair purposes.

Designed parts will range from structural components to integrated electronic assemblies and supporting cable harnesses for electrical systems. The ideal candidate will bring familiarity with CAD software and understanding of basic design practices and concepts. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work in mechanical and/or electrical design field utilizing CAD tools.


Basic Qualifications

The position requires an Associate's Degree and at least 2 years of related experience.  In lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of six years’ related experience is required.

Candidate must have at least 2 years of expereince in design work using CAD packages (CREO and/or SolidWorks).

Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.


Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess an Active Security Clearance.

Preferred candidates will meet some of the following:

  • Proven knowledge and capability to utilize GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Proven knowledge and capability to utilize all ASME Y14 drafting standards.
  • Multiple years of experience using CREO parametric CAD software and WindChill PDM system. 

Preferred candidates with have experience with design in one or more of the following areas:

  • Mechanisms
  • Composites
  • Structural
  • Electrical Packaging
  • Tooling
  • Flight Hardware
  • GSE


    Security Requirements

    Candidate must be a US Citizen.

    Possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
