Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Human Factors Specialist to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. This position involves interfacing closely with customers to understand system requirements and the user’s needs. The successful candidate will work with the Dynetics HMI team to optimize the user experience (UX) by selecting key aspects of the system to measure, choosing the appropriate human factors (HF) study methodology, implementing an HF test plan, deciding on appropriate metrics to be gathered, planning and executing the studies, gathering and analyzing the data, and finally drawing conclusions in order to make specific recommendations for improvement and optimization. A key focus of our efforts is gathering quantifiable, repeatable data so that the system can be improved with specific actionable tasking.
The successful candidate will be asked to lead or assist with the production and conduct of usability research, user tasking and scenarios, project plans, moderator guides, study plans, user surveys and interviews, personas and journey maps, heuristic evaluations and cognitive task analyses, and statistical/quantitative/qualitative analyses that blend findings to provide recommendations and digestible insights.IND3
BS/BA degree in any combination of Usability Engineering, Human Factors, Psychology, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Systems Integration (HSI), User Research, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an adjacent field of study with a concentration in technology human factors. Graduate degree preferred.
Minimum of three (3+)years of experience with UX study and research methodologies such as usability testing, customer interviews, survey design and application, and task analyses. Familiarity with Human-Centric Design / User-Centered Design (HCD/UCD) methods. Familiarity with DoD weapons systems or unmanned aircraft systems is a plus.
This is a customer-facing role, requiring excellent communication skills, initiative, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Candidate must be willing to travel at approximately 25% of the time to locations across the U.S.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville / North Alabama area.
Deep knowledge of an array of user research methodologies and proficiency in industry-standard design, prototyping, and user testing instrumentation and tools.
Proactive attitude with strong project management skills and the ability to clearly communicate research findings through written reports and oral presentations.
Ability to analyze requirements that are in the formative stages of development.
Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills.
Desire to bring creativity and drive to the usability research process.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
