Position Description

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Hardware and Firmware Hackers to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Hardware and Firmware Hacker will join our multidisciplinary team of engineers to solve technically challenging problems with innovative, cost-effective solutions in support of foreign weapon reverse engineering. This challenging position will allow for the opportunity to contribute immediately to important, meaningful work while working directly with a diverse team of experienced engineers.

Responsibilities associated with the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Disassembly and hacking of missile and radar hardware components in order to understand the hardware operation and gain access to the firmware. This work is very hands on and includes circuit tracing, schematic development, analysis, and powered testing of electrical circuits.
  • Characterization and vulnerability analysis of firmware embedded within missile and radar systems. This includes analysis of tracking, guidance, and counter-countermeasures algorithms.
  • Development of custom circuit boards, embedded software, and test equipment to power, operate, monitor, and characterize the hardware being studied.

Basic Qualifications

Possess a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience of PC or microcontroller based assembly language.

Candidate must have a demonstrated understanding of designing and analyzing systems using analog and digital hardware.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.


Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Debugging of complex devices or systems using standard digital and analog test equipment. 
  • FPGAs, microprocessors, and digital signal processors in a hands-on environment.


Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Top Secret Clearance.
