Position Description

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Manufacturing Technician to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Dynetics is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Technician who will support manufacturing operations for the NASA SLS Universal Stage Adapter (USA) and other production support and ground support equipment in the Dynetics Hardware Integration Facility (HIF) in Decatur, AL. Work will include trimming, cutting, drilling and bonding of large composite structures.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of production support equipment, ground support equipment, fabrication and assembly of space flight flight hardware, and other systems used to support USA manufacturing, transportation and handling. This position will require working on elevated platforms and lifts for extended periods of time. The ideal candidate will work well in a team environment and be self-motivated with a desire to learn new things.

Applicant must be familiar working with assembly and fabrication of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, mixing and application of various epoxies and adhesives, and composite material processing that includes fabrication, cutting, and drilling. Ideal candidate should be a mechanically inclined individual that has a working knowledge of various assembly processes including that of composite/metallic systems.

Basic Qualifications

High School diploma, GED or equivalent.

At least 5 years of experience working in an aerospace manufacturing and assembly environment.

Candidate must be able to read, write and follow written manufacturing instructions and technical procedures.

The position requires the ability to read and understand engineering drawings and written work orders, and data inputs of defined process criteria listed in shop floor traveler(s)/router(s).

Candidate must be able to routinely lift objects up to 35 pounds.

This position will require working on elevated platforms and lifts for extended periods of time.

Familiarity with various hand tools required.

Applicant must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating in a team environment

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

The ideal candidate has more than 5 years of hardware experience directly related to aerospace manufacturing and assembly.

Other preferred experience includes:

  • Exposure to composite material fabrication and assembly including lay-up of pre-preg materials and vacuum consolidation for cure, (out of autoclave curing).
  • Integration of electrical components and harnesses.
  • Experience operating industrial equipment such as cranes, lift trucks, and man lifts.
