Position Description

Dynetics is seeking an embedded design engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex weapon system problems. The candidate will primarily be engaged in defining, designing, implementing, testing, and deploying research/experimental solutions across a range of weapon system applications for warhead fuzing and rocket motor ignition. Relevant skills would include embedded C/C++ programming, GUI development, along with digital and analog hardware design.

This position will involve embedded microprocessor-based system designs primarily for military applications. Work duties include component selection, schematic design/capture, board level testing/debugging, firmware design/coding, system level integration/testing, and engineering documentation. Systems under design incorporate a combination of skillsets spanning digital, analog, mixed-signal, optical and RF applications. This position will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects in a fast-paced environment, with an emphasis on microcontroller-based embedded hardware and firmware. The position will include significant interaction with other design engineers, project managers, technicians, circuit board layout personnel, and manufacturing personnel.

Basic Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree  from an ABET accredited school in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of applicable embedded electronic design experience.

Experience with embedded systems hardware and firmware design and implementation.

Experience with checkout, debug and troubleshooting of electronic printed circuit board assemblies.

Must have experience with 1 or more of the following areas:

  • Mentor Graphics DxDesigner schematic capture software
  • Real-time embedded firmware and VHDL
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Product transition from prototype to volume production
  • Interfacing to sensors and high speed mixed-signal components.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Candidates who have hands-on experience in digital and analog design, including high voltage design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and communication protocols are preferred.

Strong consideration will be given to individuals who also possess knowledge of Altium E-CAD design software or GUI development with Python, LabVIEW or other software packages.

Experience soldering and assembling hardware is a plus.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
