Position Description

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Project Engineer - Principal/Senior Principal to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the U.S. engaging in the intelligence, missiles, aviation, space, and cyber fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering and scientific solutions.

In this position, the Project Engineer - Principal/Senior Principal will facilitate and manage the successful completion of defense, civil, and commercial space-related projects. Projects will involve diverse space technologies, subsystems, and systems.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Development and execution of plans, schedules, and budgets; project reporting for government and commercial customers; and identifying risks and opportunities to either mitigate or exploit them
  • Development of engineering solutions and troubleshooting
  • Effective communication of information between various engineering disciplines and project roles
  • Systems engineering related roles including, but not limited to, the development and oversight of requirement and planning documents
  • Supplier management to ensure external tasks are completed on time and budget
  • Test engineering oversight roles including, but not limited to, the development of structural and fluid system related test capabilities and execution of tests
  • Coordination of activities with internal and external safety and quality departments
  • Coordination with corporate contracts, pricing, and accounting to ensure projects are set up and managed according to company policies and processes
  • Reporting to department/division management on project progress

Basic Qualifications

Possess a Bachelor's of Science in in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Candidate must have at least twenty (20) years of space hardware-related experience including at least ten (10) years of direct project management experience.

Candidates must have in-depth knowledge of and experience with defense, civil, and/or commercial space engineering practices and processes, including the product development cycle through qualification and production.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office software tools, including project planning and scheduling and experience with Microsoft Project.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment and have experience mentoring team members.

The position requires travel, including periods of frequent travel for critical program assembly, integration, and test activities.

Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Thermal, fluid, and mechanical systems engineering and analysis of other space systems.
  • Space component and/or subsystem testing, including an understanding of data systems, instrumentation, and test data analysis and experience writing test plans and procedures.

 

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Top Secret Clearance.
