Position Description

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Thermal Analyst to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Thermal Analyst will support the thermal analysis of structural and mechanical systems and support various test activities. The position requires use of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, finite difference models/simulations, and other analysis tools to produce models, perform analysis, calculations, data reduction, and correlate test results to thermal and flow models. This analysis will include detailed steady state and/or transient thermal analyses utilizing standard industry programs. Additional responsibilities will include working closely with the design activity to refine mechanical designs based upon the thermal analysis results.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.3 or higher GPA.

Candidate must have at least (5) five years experience with thermal analysis.

Candidate must have knowledge of the commercial thermal analysis and CFD tools (e.g., Thermal Desktop/SindaFluint, ANSYS, SolidWorks FlowSimulation, etc.).

Candidate must be able to write technical reports and have experience presenting a to a multi-disciplined team.

The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in and experience effectively communicating in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Aerothermal analysis
  • Charring and ablation prediction
  • Fluid lumped capacitance modeling
  • Electronics cooling analysis
  • Thermal analysis of orthotropic materials
  • Structural analysis
  • FEMAP/Nastran
  • Coupled thermal-structural analysis
  • Mechanical design using Solidworks/CREO 3D CAD Software
  • Experience with both metallic and composite materials is a plus.

 

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
