Position Description

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Manufacturing Technician to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Dynetics is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Technician who will support manufacturing operations for the NASA SLS Universal Stage Adapter (USA) and other production support and ground support equipment in the Dynetics Hardware Integration Facility (HIF) in Decatur, AL. Work will include trimming, cutting, drilling and bonding of large composite structures.

The Manufacturing Technician will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of production support equipment, ground support equipment, fabrication and assembly of space flight flight hardware, and other systems used to support USA manufacturing, transportation and handling. This position will require working on elevated platforms and lifts for extended periods of time. The ideal candidate will work well in a team environment and be self-motivated with a desire to learn new things.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.

Candidate must have at least (5) five years of experience working in an aerospace manufacturing and assembly environment.

Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of assembly and fabrication of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, mixing and application of various epoxies and adhesives, and composite material processing that includes fabrication, cutting, and drilling.

Candidate must be able to read, write and follow written manufacturing instructions and technical procedures.

Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of various hand tools.

Candidate will be required to read and understand engineering drawings and written work orders, and data inputs of defined process criteria listed in shop floor traveler(s)/router(s).

Candidate will be required to work on elevated platforms and lifts for extended periods of time.

Candidate must be able to routinely lift objects up to 35 pounds.

Applicant must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating in a team environment

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have more than (5) five years of hardware experience directly related to aerospace manufacturing and assembly.

Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Various assembly processes including that of composite/metallic systems.
  • Exposure to composite material fabrication and assembly including lay-up of pre-preg materials and vacuum consolidation for cure, (out of autoclave curing).
  • Integration of electrical components and harnesses.
  • Operating industrial equipment such as cranes, lift trucks, and man lifts.
