Position Description

In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) contract in the near future, Dynetics Space Systems Division is seeking qualified engineers and analysts to support NASA programs including HLS that will put the first woman and next man on the Moon. We are seeking project engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, electrical/mechanical engineers, stress/structural engineers, and analysts to join a diverse team in support of the development of a Human Lander System that will take us back to the surface of the Moon by 2024.

Dynetics is seeking a talented Main Engine Injector Lead to join a diverse, highly skilled team to create unique solutions for complex problems involving space systems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective intelligence, engineering, and scientific solutions.

The Main Engine Injector Lead will support the Dynetics Space Systems Division with development of HLS with primary responsibility to design, analyze, test, fabricate, and integrate the injector assembly into the lunar lander liquid rocket engines. The selected individual will serve as lead project engineer for a fast-paced task focused on design and development of a high-performing injector for cryogenic propellants. The individual will work with an interdisciplinary engine team to integrate the injector into the powerhead assembly and conduct testing to ensure the hardware meets mass, thermal, combustion efficiency, stability, and overall performance requirements. The individual will also interface with department leadership and project managers, mechanical designers, component engineers, other test engineers, safety, and quality within Dynetics.


Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university. 

Candidate must have at least three (3) years of injector design and test experience with NASA, DoD, or commercial launch or space vehicle development programs.

Candidate must have experience designing and constructing liquid rocket engine injectors within budget and tight schedule constraints.

Candidate must have an understanding of and experience with injector designs and industry-standard design and analysis tools.

Candidate must demonstrate understanding of combustion stability, the impact of injector design and performance on stable combustion, and design elements to prevent combustion instability.

Candidate must be able to write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical reports and present results to multi-disciplinary teams and customer stakeholders.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating both verbally and in writing.

Candidate must have demonstrated ability to deliver results in a team environment and independently.

Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.


Other Qualifications

Preference will be shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university. 

Candidates possessing a broad background in combustion device design, fabrication, analysis, and testing (with an emphasis on injector design) are highly desired.

Preference will be shown to candidates who have experience and/or knowledge of the following:

  • Conventional and additive manufacturing techniques.
  • Cryogenic injector designs.
  • NASA, DoD, or other aerospace development projects
  • Working as part of multi-company and multi-organizational development teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tool suite.
  • Project planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project.
  • Performing as an individual contributor within a short time period.

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Candidate must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
