Position Description

The Strategic Programs office of Dynetics Technical Solutions, Inc. (DTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynetics, Inc., is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer/Analyst for its directed energy programs. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics Technical Solutions provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as a Mechanical Engineer/Structural Analyst supporting High-Energy-Laser, Directed Energy, and Glide Body Programs. The candidate will perform structural analysis, evaluation of materials, and work with a team of multidiscipline engineers on structural design optimization, development of test support equipment, and performance of verification activities. The position requires an understanding and application of analytical methods, finite element models and simulations, and other analytical tools to produce models and perform analyses. This includes performing hand calculations as well as detailed stress analyses utilizing standard industry software programs.

Basic Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field from an ABET accredited school is required. Candidate should have at least 5+ years of relevant experience.

The following skills/abilities are desired:

  • Experience with design of mechanical structures and test equipment
  • Proven working knowledge of Femap, NASTRAN, Abaqus and/or ANSYS software
  • Written and oral communication skills to prepare reports and present them to teammates
  • Knowledge of mechanical structural systems including cast, forged and
    machined parts
  • Experience with environmental testing components and related test equipment
  • Experience with compatible materials, fasteners, coatings, processes and assembly methods
  • Knowledge of ASME drawing standards
  • Experience with CAD packages such as Solidworks, Creo, etc.
  • Organizational skills to document designs, assist with Technical Data Packages (TDP) and support production and test equipment

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

The ideal candidate would have experience related to design and/or test of tactical weapon systems, high energy lasers and have a current DoD Secret clearance.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
