Position Description

Dynetics Technical Solutions (DTS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynetics, is seeking a talented Senior Manager (Lean, Six Sigma & Continuous Improvement) to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Senior Manager will support our Dynetics Production System, The DTS Way and Lean Six Sigma transformations.  This individual will provide both Divisional & Corporate Lean Transformation expertise and guidance through the development, documentation, implementation, coaching/teaching and validation of the Production System using Lean Six Sigma applications. The position will facilitate building of synergies across numerous Manufacturing & Development sites/organizations, enable cross-functional collaboration and best practices sharing/implementation, and provide education and development opportunities to strengthen overall organizational capabilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Development of & Alignment with Dynetics Production System, The DTS Way & Lean Six Sigma Vision and Strategy:

  • Create, introduce and sustain a Lean Six Sigma culture into the Division facilities
  • Work with Operations Managers & Director of Manufacturing to ensure alignment and synchronization of the Dynetics’ Production System, The DTS Way &Lean Six Sigma mission, vision and purpose
  • Advise Management and provide strategic direction on Lean project selection, integration of resources and prioritization
  • Monitor and continuously improve site Lean initiative, related to productivity and quality of operations
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems
  • Create and lead Lean steering team to ensure direction and alignment of key management personnel toward the lean management system and six sigma vision and strategy

Building a Lean Production System and Lean Six Sigma Culture:

  • Be a leader, mentor and coach towards integration of Lean, Six Sigma principles, values, philosophies and tools for driving continuous improvement
  • Encourage cross training, skills assessment, instructional goals, on-the-job training, teamwork, information sharing, suggestion systems and others to foster lean six sigma within the site
  • Create and manage a system to ensure people development, education, motivation, empowerment and involvement
  • Foster respect for people and humility through mentoring and coaching through the site’s lean journey

System Measurement and Feedback:

  • Track sites key continuous improvement metrics
  • Establish employee suggestion system, engagement programs, reward and recognition programs to support innovative thinking while measuring employee understanding and involvement
  • Develop Lean training modules and train the trainer on the modules
  • Develop and mentor local coaches and lean leaders to facilitate and lead site continuous
  • improvement activity and development of a sustainable lean culture

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience with Lean Six Sigma transformations/activities.

Candidate must be Six Sigma Black Belt certified by a recognized organizations in the industry (e.g. ASQ, SME), Lean certification or Shingo Facilitator.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing principles (5S+1, Kaizen, Leader Standard Work, 3P, Daily Management Process & Accountability Processes, etc.).

Candidate must be able to lead Continuous Improvement Events and have experience facilitating Value Stream Mapping (VSM) events.

Candidate must have experience in using Statistical and other problem-solving techniques (Fishbone, 5-Why, Shainin, etc.).

Candidate must demonstrate strong personal & organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and experienced in Corporate Executive level presentations.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.


Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who have experience with:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) with regard to Value Stream/Daily management system concepts and Visual Workplace/Visual Management
  • Developing Process flows and Work Instructions (WIs) for Material Acquisition functions
  • Developing, driving and implementing an operational excellence system based on Lean concepts and TPS principles

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Candidate must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
