Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Project Manager to join a diverse, highly skilled team to create unique solutions for complex problems involving propulsion systems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective intelligence, engineering, and scientific solutions.

Space Systems Division is seeking a Project Manager to lead a diverse team in support of the development of a prototype rocket-powered countermeasure test fixture that will assist the U.S. Air Force in testing aircraft flares and other devices.

The Project Manager will support the Dynetics Space Systems Division with development of DOTC Sled with primary responsibility for managing, planning, establishing, tracking, and executing complex tasks within technical, schedule, and budget constraints. Candidates will coordinate with corporate contracts, pricing, and accounting to ensure project tasks are set up and managed according to company policies and program processes. Candidates will work with customers and suppliers to ensure tasks are completed on time and budget. Candidates will serve as the day-to-day technical interface with the customer for the project. Candidates will report to leadership and will provide regular informal and formal status on project progress. As project manager, candidates will identify and communicate issues and recommend solutions. Candidates will also interface with other project engineers/managers, mechanical designers, component engineers, test engineers, safety, and quality with Dynetics. Candidate will work in a team environment to support design through development and prototype implementation.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Candidate must have at least ten (10) years of hardware development experience.

Candidate must have at least five (5) years as a team lead.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience with complex system engineering practices and processes.

Candidates must have have demonstrated experience with thermal, fluid, and mechanical systems engineering, analysis, and testing.

Candidates must also understand development program data deliverable requirements.

Candidates must be able to work with suppliers to help them meet both hardware and non-hardware deliverable requirements.

Candidates must be able to write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical reports and present results to multi-disciplinary teams and customer stakeholders.

Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

The position requires travel, including periods of frequent travel for critical program assembly, integration, and test activities.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Preference will be shown to candidates who have experience and/or knowledge of the following:

  • Rocket propulsion development projects
  • Projects with extensive mechanical, electromechanical, or thermofluid system design and development
  • Performing as an individual contributor within a short time period
  • Project planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Candidate must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
