Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos,m has been selected by NASA to participate in the development and demonstration of a Human Landing System (HLS). Dynetics is seeking project engineers, systems engineers, mechanical design engineers, electrical engineers, structural and thermal analysts, manufacturing engineers, test engineers, technicians, and operators to join a diverse team in support of the development of the HLS that will carry the first woman and next man to the Moon by 2024.

This position will support Dynetics' development and testing of mechanical and propulsion space systems. Candidate will be involved from conceptual stages through delivery of the final test reports. Candidate will be involved in test planning and execution of various size systems for a wide range of customers. Candidate will support test design—including design engineering of test equipment, fixtures, and support equipment. Position will include writing test plans, procedures, and reports.


Basic Qualifications

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and at least 5 years of test engineering experience. Candidate must have some mechanical space system-related experience. Candidate must have experience writing plans, procedures, and reports for test events. In addition to documentation, candidate will need experience using relevant analytical tools, including Matlab and LabVIEW. Candidate must also have a working understanding of hardware design principles.

Other Qualifications

The ideal candidate has more than 5 years of test experience directly related to propulsion and other mechanical space systems. In addition, the ideal candidate has some design engineering experience sufficient to effectively support the design of test hardware. Other preferred experience includes: exposure to systems pressurized up to 6,000 psi; direct work with instrumentation such as pressure transducers, flow meters, load cells, and strain gages; experience with cryogenic fluids; and experience working with and handling both liquid and solid propellants. Experience managing small projects with defined budgets and multi-disciplined teams is a plus.
