Position Description

The Strategic Programs office of Dynetics Technical Solutions, Inc. (DTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynetics, Inc., is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Engineer (Electrical) for its Hypersonics line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics Technical Solutions provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as a Manufacturing Engineer that will handle all aspects of manufacturing for Hypersonic Glide Bodies (HGB). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in developing, documenting, and executing manufacturing processes and procedures for electrical and electromechanical products. Applicant will work with multi-disciplinary team to develop a wide variety of hardware. Candidate will support tasks such as review and approval of engineering drawings, bills of materials, customer quality requirements, and work instructions; participation in design reviews; and execution of manufacturing activities. Candidate will be required to work closely with the design team to complete all details of the design, to prepare the design for release to manufacturing. Candidate will also work closely with our quality team to develop processes that validate customer quality requirements.

Candidate must be capable of reading and interpreting mechanical/integration drawings and understand the working nature of MRP/ERP and MES systems. Applicant must be able to create a bill of materials based on drawings and specs as well as create and maintain standardized work instructions based on drawing and specification reviews. This position will be required to provide floor support for integration, test, and assembly efforts and will be required to work closely with design team, quality control, and manufacturing personnel.

Basic Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent field from an ABET accredited school is required and must have at least 1 year of manufacturing engineering experience on programs designing and building assemblies and systems to government specifications (or similar). (Five or more years of applicable experience will also satisfy the BS degree requirement.) Candidate will have experience with software that maintains bills of materials, and other engineering design data. Candidate will have the ability to lead a small group of people to accomplish assigned tasks.

The following skills/abilities are required:

  • Experience with design of electrical aspects of missiles and test equipment
  • Experience with environmental testing of missile components and related test equipment
  • Experience creating and modifying work instructions
  • Experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Experience creating training programs for technicians, to cover such topics as torque, cable mate/demate, cable routing, adhesive mixing and application, safety wiring, etc.
  • Knowledge of ASME drawing standards
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics, block diagrams, and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies
  • Organizational skills to document designs, assist with Technical Data Packages (TDP) and support production and test of HGB equipment

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Preferred candidate will have experience with mechanicals used on launch vehicles, targets, or missile component. Experience in system engineering is a plus. Ability to provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, Basis of Estimate (BOE) documents, and other documents used to support proposal efforts will be preferred. Experience in project management is a plus. Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software, iBASEt MES software, and Agile engineering design data management software is a plus. Experience in various quality roles is also a plus.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
