Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Thermal & Fluids Analyst to join a diverse, highly skilled team to create unique solutions for complex problems involving space systems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective intelligence, engineering, and scientific solutions.

The Thermal & Fluids Analyst will support the Dynetics Space Systems Division with development of structural and mechanical systems for the NASA SLS Program. Primary responsibility includes performing detailed thermal/aerothermal analysis and compartment venting analysis. The Thermal & Fluid Analyst will interface with subsystem design leads and other subsystem analysts/engineers, mechanical designers, component engineers, test engineers, safety, reliability, other subsystem engineers, and ground system engineering teams. Candidates will support test planning and test data analysis and completion of verification/validation documents and reports to support vehicle certification. Candidates will work in a team environment to support conceptual design through product implementation.


Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Candidate must have at least (3) three years of thermal- and fluid-system hardware-related experience.

Candidates must have experience with thermal, fluid, and mechanical systems engineering and analysis.

Candidate must have knowledge of the commercial thermal and fluid analysis tools (e.g. Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, ANSYS, etc.)

Candidates must have demonstrated an ability to deliver results in a team environment and independently.

Candidates must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidate must be able to write technical reports and have experience presenting to a multi-disciplined team.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate

Other Qualifications

Preference will be shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Preference will be shown to candidates who have experience and/or knowledge of the following:

  • NASA or other aerospace development projects
  • Thermal system design and analysis of space launch vehicle and/or missile systems
  • Compartment venting analysis for space launch vehicles and/or missile systems
  • In-depth experience using Thermal Desktop
  • Aerospace component and/or subsystem testing, including an understanding of data systems, instrumentation, and test data analysis
  • Working as part of multi-company and multi-organizational development teams
  • Performing as an individual contributor within a short time period

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Candidate must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
