AMS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynetics, is seeking a talented Accountant to lead the broad range of accounting activities for the subsidiary and work in concert with the parent company.
The position will be responsible for preparing and submitting invoicing on government electronic filing systems. As part of this role, the candidate will monitor Accounts Receivable to ensure that collections are current and identify any potential issues as or before they arise. They will be responsible for monitoring Accounts Payable and ensuring subcontractors and vendors are paid timely. Candidate will work closely with all stakeholders (including Contract Administrators, Technical Points of Contact, Subcontractors and Government Pay Offices) to proactively address and resolve invoicing or payment issues.
The Accountant is responsible for reviewing contracts, identifying and setting up revenue and billing formulas, attending project kickoff meetings, and reviewing Costpoint project setups to ensure that the setup align with the contractual and financial requirements. Selected resource must display knowledge of contract interpretation to articulate requirements. The position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The position is extremely detail oriented and requires ability to handle a high volume of work.
In addition to AR and AP, this position will handle a limited payroll, monthly financial reporting, support of contract close-outs, payment of business licenses, taxes, and miscellaneous dues and fees.
Position is in a fast-paced environment, where accuracy and organizational skills are necessary. Candidate must work well in a team-oriented environment.
Position will require a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of 5+ years of direct applicable accounting experience.
· Experience working with federal government customers & experience with government cost accounting and compliance
· Capable of performing Journal entries.
· Candidate must be a self-starter and need to take direction and work to complete tasking with limited guidance and on scheduled timelines.
· This position requires attention to detail, critical thinking, solid organizational skills, and great customer service skills.
· The position requires strong written and oral communication skills.
Position will require candidate to demonstrate capabilities in MS Office (Excel especially) and use of a financial management software system (Deltek Costpoint).
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
