Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Quality Control Manager for Space Systems and Products to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The qualified candidate will support commercial, aerospace, and defense manufacturing/production programs within our Space Division.

The Quality Control Manager for Space Systems and Products position is responsible for implementing a Quality Control system and team that promotes customer satisfaction. The position will champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to develop an effective Quality Control system for space products such as propulsion system assembly and test, spaceflight hardware assembly and test, ground support equipment assembly and test, clean room operations, etc.

Essential Functions

1. Serves as the primary quality control authority for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
2. Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
3. Plan quality control staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to Quality Engineer, Technician, and Inspector staff.
4. Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring Quality Control system effectiveness.
5. Leads root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
6. Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
7. Develops quality planning methods for all product lines within the plant.
8. Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
9. Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the plant’s product lines.
10. Reports to Quality Management on quality issues, trends and losses.
11. Participates in internal and external quality audits.
12. Collaborates with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations
13. Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
14. All other reasonable duties, as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all Quality Control employees of space systems and products manufacturing plants and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that team.

Basic Qualifications

Must have Ten (10+) years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment.

Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or business administration

In lieu of degree 15+ years of experience with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent

Experience in a QMS compliant with AS9100/ISO9001.

Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Experience in leading skilled professionals in a matrix environment.

Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software a plus.

Direct experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Quality Module implementation and management a plus.

Experience in a start-up environment a plus.

Experience implementing QMS in a multi-site environment

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
