Dynetics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented, entry-level Opto-mechanical Engineer to join a diverse, highly-skilled team to create unique solutions for complex problems involving research systems and advanced sensor technology. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective intelligence, engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The successful Opto-mechanical Engineer will support the Advanced Materials Product Group in developing optical systems for use in advanced sensors and novel composite material processing systems. The candidate will work with the project managers, researchers, scientists, and engineers develop requirements, design, integrate, and test optical components and systems.
Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Candidate must have at least 2 (two) years of direct experience designing and analyzing optical and mechanical components and systems.
Candidate must be proficient developing 3D CAD models and fully-dimensioned 2D drawings with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Candidate must be proficient in highly detailed tolerance stack-up analysis.
Candidate must be able to work with multi-functional teams in taking systems from requirement definition through design and implementation while ensuring project schedules and budgets are achieved.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Preference will be shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
