Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking an experienced Avionics Project Engineer (PE) to support multiple Avionics programs, including the NASA Human Lander System (HLS) program. The candidate selected for this position will be a part of our Avionics Products Team, and will require an experienced engineer with demonstrated technical and leadership skills. The individual must be a self-starter with experience working with inter-disciplinary engineering teams to solve challenging technical problems.
Dynetics has been selected by NASA to participate in the development and demonstration of a Human Landing System (HLS), which will land the first woman and the next man on the lunar surface by 2024. Among other duties, the successful candidate for this position will lead the HLS Propulsion Control System team, which will design, implement, test, and support the HLS Propulsion Control System (PCS), the Avionics system that will control the HLS main propulsion system during Lunar orbit, descent to the Lunar surface, and ascent return to orbit.
The Avionics Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Propulsion IPT lead and staff engineers in organizing, planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates. Lead the PCS Avionics design effort to ensure that technical deliverables are completed within schedule and budget and meet customer requirements. Follow schedule tasks and make sure coordination is occurring between staff engineers and scheduler. Participate in regular meetings with the IPT lead to address/solve issues as they arise. Document technical activities and keep documents updated per the configuration management policies and procedures. Assist with project plan development. Ensures project documents such as the project management plan, requirements matrix, responsibility matrix and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) are complete, accurate and up-to-date. Tracks Action Items for the whole program and support the closing of the actions. Perform advanced technical work in application development and integration and provide support documentation related to project administration including contract deliverables. Support Cost Account Management activities for the engineering team. Coordinate engineering team meetings, travel, and overhead budget request.
BS degree from an ABET accredited school in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 10+ years of experience
