Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Test and Calibration Engineer to join a diverse, highly-skilled team to create unique solutions for complex problems involving research systems and advanced sensor technology. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective intelligence, engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The successful Test and Calibration Engineer will support the Advanced Materials Product Group in testing and calibrating advanced sensors and subsystems during design, development, and assembly, as well as run system tests for advance materials research systems. The candidate will work with the project managers, researchers, scientists, and engineers to develop test and calibration protocols for various systems; design, procure, assembly and qualify test and calibration systems; execute tests; and analyze test data.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Candidate must possess strong, hand-on troubleshooting and mechanical skills.

Candidate must have experience designing and assembling test systems.

Candidate must have experience with data analysis using Excel, Python, Matlab or similar analysis tools.

Candidate must have proven experience working with multi-functional teams in taking systems from requirement definition through design and implementation.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Preference will be shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree or PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:

  • Experience with laser spectroscopy or mass spectroscopy
  • Specifying and utilizing data acquisition systems to use on test systems
  • Experience operating laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multi-meters
  • Experience with stainless steel gas tubing design and assembly
  • Experience with working with flow meters, flow controllers, back pressure regulators, pumps, and leak detectors
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Working as part of multi-company and multi-organizational development teams
  • Self-motivation with the ability to handle priorities across multiple projects simultaneously

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Top Secret Clearance.
