Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Senior Material Project Manager to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Senior Material Project Manager will be responsible for managing the program supply chain requirements and leading a staff of other team members that support the definition, planning and requisition of materials. This individual will also be responsible for leading significant suppliers on large system development programs for a variety of military and aerospace customers. This position encompasses the complete program lifecycle from concept development through design and into production. The selected candidate will serve as the primary interface between the program and their designated supplier(s). The position requires strong communication skills and demonstrated experience exhibiting good judgement. The selected candidate is expected to actively partner with the supplier(s), Dynetics' engineers, other project managers, and the program manager to ensure the supplier(s)' products meet all technical requirements per the supplier Statement of Work. Experience with work breakdown, planning, scheduling, tracking, and execution of complex tasking within technical, schedule, and budget constraints is required. Experience developing proposals and quotations for projects and products is a plus. Some travel for meetings and test events may be required.

Key responsibilities include:

• development and maintenance of the supplier Statement of Work and technical requirements

• evaluating supplier proposals and supporting the down-select process

• monitoring the supplier performance, cost, schedule, and quality

• performing regular program status meetings and technical interchange meetings

• coordinating design changes, assessing supplier requests for change, and addressing supplier issues

• coordinate supply chain fulfillment requirements with team members including requisitioners, planners, expeditor, inventory, etc.

• tracking/managing budget and schedule for fulfillment tasks including material costs

• managing processes/procedures used to fulfill and track requirements

• contributing to make vs buy decisions

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field from an ABET-accredited institution with a 3.0 or higher GPA

  • Candidate must have 10+ years experience managing technical programs

  • Candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of program planning and execution techniques and tools

  • Candidate must have experience with Costpoint MRP processes

  • Candidate must have experience with supplier/subcontract management

  • Candidate must have an understanding of systems engineering principles, design and manufacturing processes, and quality systems

  • Candidate must have experience successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative engineering environment

  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Candidate must have excellent customer interaction and presentation skills

  • Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

Other Qualifications

  • Preference shown to candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field from an ABET-accredited institution with a 3.5 or higher GPA

  • Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's degree in a technical or business field from an ABET-accredited institution


Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:

  • Developing products for military or aerospace applications

  • AS9100 quality systems and compliance

  • Navigating DoD acquisition processes and methods

  • Risk identification, analysis, and management techniques

  • Proposal management including identifying key partners, developing statements of work for subcontracts, planning and writing proposal response.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
