Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Spacecraft Manufacturing Project Manager to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, aerospace, cyber, space and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

This position will lead the establishment of a Dynetics spacecraft manufacturing capability in Huntsville, AL. The Project Manager will lead non-recurring activities related to proposal support, definition of facility requirements, facility selection, facility activation, and commissioning. The Project Manager will partner with other Leidos entities to build a transition plan from current R&D activities to rate production. This position will also manage cost and schedule associated with facility activation.

The Project Manager will provide critical input in supporting trade studies, make/buy assessments, and life-cycle design reviews. Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Partnering with local Facilities department on facility requirements definition and site selection
  • Developing and executing the manufacturing plan
  • Providing cost and schedule estimates for low-rate initial production
  • Developing tooling and equipment needs and partnering with Supply Chain teammates on acquisition
  • Developing and executing staffing plans
  • Managing cost, schedule and technical performance associated with site activation.
  • Briefing stakeholders on project progress

The candidate selected for this position will lead a high-impact project within the Dynetics manufacturing organization. This will be a dynamic environment and a high growth area

Basic Qualifications

BS in a technical discipline with 15+ years of experience,


Masters in technical discipline with 10+ years of experience.


High School diploma, GED, or equivalent with 20+ years of experience.

Candidate must have experience in spacecraft sensor manufacturing and/or spacecraft assembly, test and integration, with an understanding of manufacturing quality requirements for such projects.

A qualified candidate must have experience in manufacturing or processing of space hardware in a clean-room environment.

Candidate must have previous experience in manufacturing planning, facility planning, or activation of a production line.

Experience in personnel management or organizational leadership experience, including interviewing, assessing, and hiring new personnel is also required.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Experience in production readiness reviews

Experience partnering with geographically dispersed teammates

Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems

Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software

Experience with AS9100, IPC, and DCMA standards

Experience leading activities across diverse functional groups with emphasis on timely, high quality manufacturing

Demonstrated expertise in Lean principles, Visual Management and continuous improvement

Strong background in the Aerospace Industry

Project management or program management certification

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
