Position Description

Dynetics Technical Solutions (DTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynetics, is seeking a talented Manufacturing Leader for Continuous Improvement, 5S+1 and Quality System Compliance to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

This Leader will support our Dynetics Production System, The DTS Way, Lean Six Sigma project definition and ensure Operations follow defined processes. This individual will provide both Plant level & Divisional support and guidance through the development, documentation, implementation, coaching/teaching and validation of the Production System, deployment of Leader Standard Work, Deployment of Visual Management tools, development & deployment of an Employee Suggestion System, conduct of Safety, Process & Quality Audits, and deployment of Value Stream Team (VSTs) and Daily Management concepts into daily operations. The position will facilitate building of synergies across numerous Manufacturing & Development sites/organizations, enable cross-functional collaboration and best practices sharing/implementation, and provide education and development opportunities to strengthen overall organizational capabilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Development of & Alignment with Dynetics Production System, The DTS Way & Continuous Improvement Strategy:

  • Create, introduce, and sustain a Lean culture within the facility
  • Work with Plant Manager to ensure alignment and synchronization of the Dynetics’ Production System, The DTS Way &Lean Six Sigma mission, vision, and purpose
  • Advise Management and provide strategic direction on Lean project selection, integration of resources and prioritization
  • Monitor and continuously improve site Lean initiatives, related to productivity and quality of operations
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems
  • Create and lead Lean steering team to ensure direction and alignment of key management personnel toward the lean management system and six sigma vision and strategy

Building a Lean Production System and Lean Six Sigma Culture:

  • Be a leader, mentor, and coach towards integration of Lean principles, values, philosophies and tools for driving continuous improvement
  • Assist in the development of Lean oriented layouts for future Manufacturing programs
  • Develop and Implement a Layered Process Audit System for Manufacturing Fulfillment and Quality processes
  • Assist in the development of a flexible Manufacturing Operations through cross training, skills assessment, instructional goals, on-the-job training, teamwork, information sharing and suggestion systems
  • Create and manage a system to ensure people development, education, motivation, empowerment, and involvement
  • Foster respect for people and humility through mentoring and coaching through the site’s lean journey

System Measurement and Feedback:

  • Institutionalize Value Stream Teams (VSTs) into all Plant Operations and Improvement activities
  • Track and monitor Plant key metrics and KPIs. Recommend new metrics for future improvement
  • Establish employee suggestion system, engagement programs, reward and recognition programs to support innovative thinking while measuring employee understanding and involvement
  • Develop Lean training modules and train the trainer on the modules
  • Facilitate and lead plant level site continuous improvement efforts
  • Conduct Process audits and Visual Management tools for communication and improvement purposes

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience with Lean, 5S+1 and Continuous Improvement activities.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing principles (5S+1, Kaizen, Leader Standard Work, 3P, Daily Management Process, Process Auditing & Accountability Processes, etc.).

Candidate must be able to lead Continuous Improvement Events and have knowledge of Value Stream Mapping (VSM).

Candidate must have experience in using Statistical and other problem-solving techniques (Fishbone, 5-Why, Shainin, etc.).

Candidate must demonstrate strong personal & organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and experienced in Senior Plant Management level presentations.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who have experience with:

  • Associates and Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • Experience with Manufacturing Management is highly desirable
  • Knowledgeable with regard to Value Stream/Daily management system concepts and Visual Workplace/Visual Management
  • Developing Process flows and Work Instructions (WIs) for Manufacturing Operations
  • Developing, driving and implementing an operational excellence system based on Lean concepts and TPS principles
  • Experience in the area of Training is highly desirable.

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Candidate must possess (and maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
