Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The candidate selected for this position will be a software developer with varied technical interests and demonstrated engineering skills. The candidate must be a self-starter with experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems. The candidate will work closely with electronics integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.

The candidate will be expected to execute in a fast-paced, small team environment through all phases of the product life cycle from conceptual development and detailed implementation through manufacturing, qualification testing, and post-delivery support. The candidate will be responsible for developing robust software solutions. The candidate’s primary job functions include architecting, implementing, and testing embedded software solutions targeting microprocessors, SoCs, and FPGAs.

The candidate is also expected to actively partner with other engineers and developers, project managers, technicians and the customer to develop solutions that adhere to a diverse set of requirements. Additionally, the candidate will support resolution of technical issues that are discovered during the development, integration, and test of deliverable products. This will include troubleshooting issues, assessing bugs and deficiencies for root cause, and identifying corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET Accredited University.

Candidate must have at least 4 years of embedded software experience centered around microcontrollers, microprocessors, or FPGAs.

Candidate must demonstrate expert knowledge of the C and C++ programming languages as well as various microprocessor assembly languages.

Candidate must have experience with communication protocols such as UART, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, and CAN.

Candidate must have experience with software versioning and release cycles.

Candidate must have hands-on lab experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods for software and hardware.

Candidate must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Candidate must be a resident of or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Other Qualifications

Preference will be shown to candidates with a working knowledge of RISC microprocessor architectures such as ARM Cortex and PowerP and of the x86 architecture.

Preference will be shown to candidates with experience in embedded operating systems such as Linux, VxWorks, Integrity, and FreeRTOS.

Preference will be shown to candidates with board support package development for RTOS.

Preference will be shown to candidates with driver-level software development experience for various RTOS or Windows environments.

Preference will be shown to candidates with a working knowledge of ethernet-based networking protocols such as UDP, TCP, ARP, and IGMP.

Preference will be shown to candidates with a working knowledge of Python programming.

Preference will be shown to candidates with a working knowledge of memory architectures and caching.
