The System Administrator and Documentation Specialist’s day to day operations will include operation of numerous classified systems across multiple security levels. They will be expected to provide daily operational support to systems with a focus on documenting policies, processes, and procedures that will enable support for compliance and daily operational activities. This specialist position will collaborate with other system and network administrators to assist in system implementation and maintenance, where this assistance provides an opportunity test existing or create new documentation for implementation or maintenance tasks.

This position requires attention to detail, critical thinking, solid organizational skills, and great customer service skills. Strong written and oral communications skills are required to be successful in this position.

A core function of this position within the team is to champion and socialize a culture of documentation and process that allows repeatability and optimization in system deployments, maintenance, and continuous monitoring. This includes assistance in maintaining and curating tools used to store and disseminate documentation, workflows, and project management information, such as JIRA and Confluence.

The candidate must be able to adapt to and respond quickly to challenging environments and problems. The candidate should be prepared to assist their customers meeting goals while working within various US Government policy frameworks governing their area's operations.

Basic Qualifications

This position requires the candidate become compliant with DOD 8570 baseline certification requirements for IAT II certification will be obtained within 6 months of hire, preference for currently certified.

High school diploma required. Degree in Information Systems or Network Engineering preferred.

  1. The candidate should be organized and have some familiarity with compliance and IT documentation concepts and frameworks, such as how Policy, Process and Procedure documentation structures operate to fulfill compliance frameworks and support daily operations.
  2. The candidate should be capable and prepared to provide Tier II/III support to include hardware and software configuration.
  3. The candidate will assist Information System Security personnel with documentation required for RMF compliance.
  4. The candidate will assist their team with the remediation of system vulnerabilities identified from automated scanners by using Microsoft Group Policy and patch deployment techniques to maintain a compliant security posture.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of data redundancy architectures and virtualization.
  6. The candidate should have a strong understanding of DNS,DHCP, and Active directory, to facilitate complex troubleshooting and consolations with their team. They should be able to deploy and correctly configure a new domain environment and train personnel on the proper care and administration of such environments.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Knowledge of PowerShell and batch scripting, in lieu of documenting these items for repeatable processes, is a plus.

Experience with an organization responsible for administration of networks and information systems is desired.

The candidate be familiar with US Government policies and directives (e.g., NIST 800-53, NISPOM, JSIG/JFAN, and/or DCID Memorandums) Experience with relevant JSIG/JAFAN or ICD RMF accreditation process.

Familiarity with SCC scanner and DISA Stigs would be beneficial.

Experience with HPCs, CONDOR and other distributed computing experience a plus.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (as well as maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.
